Reliquary Crucifix

I love this Reliquary Crucifix. You can tell someone has rubbed their fingers over it, praying or thinking, many times.

I think I know who that person was, which makes me cherish it even more.

At one time, it was full of tiny scrolls of paper and beads, over the years some have disappeared when it was opened by people who didn't realize they fell out. No use crying over spilled milk, right?

I am not Catholic, and don't know much about this. It belonged to a nun. The one Saint on the paper scroll is Vitalis. You can read about him here.

Here it is when fully opened:

Catholic or not, religious or not, it is still a wonderful piece of history. If you would like to know more about Reliquary Items this is a good place to start.
